Exercise Motives

 Below are a number of reasons people often give when asked why they exercise.  Whether you currently exercise regularly or not, please read each reason and indicate, by selecting a response in the drop box that reflects how often you feel the reason is true for you personally, or would be true for you personally if you did exercise. 

 1 = Never
2 = Seldom
3 = Occasionally
4 = Often
5 = Repeatedly

The checklist used for this study is associated with the list generated by Markland et al (1993) and Markland et all (1997).  The items represent common items on the widely used and validated tool.  (Exercise Motivations Inventory, EMI, Markland & Hard, 1993, EMI-2, Markland & Ingledew, 1997).
